You get up and head into the hall. You walk over the door beside yours, giving a clear knock.
You hear quick heavy footsteps before the door swings open. Old timey jazz music murmurs quietly from inside the room, followed by the scent of urine and alcohol. A short, heavy set fellow, wearing torn dress pants and a sweat drenched white T-shirt opens the door, leaning on their forearm for support as they sway sideways “Was I being too loud? Really sorry about - I’m not doing well”
the man turns, limping away from you toward the arm chair on the far side of the room, stopping half way to bend over and gag, coughing and spitting on the floor. You notice a blood stained towel on the floor outside the washroom. He sways a bit side to side as he sits down “I’m so sorry, I just went out for a smoke and I…I found this strange purple thing in the ground” The man shakes his head in disbelief
“I swear it felt like a dream, I’ve never seen anything like it. Like some sort of, I don’t know what the hell it was, but I just…”
The man’s speech begins to slur, and becomes incoherent
He pulls up one of his pant legs to reveal a bloody gouge on the side of his lower leg. Then he lowers his face into the palms of his hands, and starts to slowly lean forward. You get a full view of the room from the doorway - The place is a mess. The man’s shirt and suit jacket are thrown about, numerous beer bottles are scattered around the room, The bed sheets are piled on the floor in a corner, and there are papers everywhere. A suitcase record player is open on the desk, beside a stack of three small card board boxes. A half eaten plate of food is on the foot of the bed, some of which has spilled onto the floor.
You ask him if he informed the hotel staff, but he doesn’t reply. You can hear him mumbling quietly under his breath.
The vibe is deeply unsettling, your eyes nervously scan the room for a moment, you step back into the hall to leave, but are further alarmed as the man begins to cough violently, falling forward to his knees.
Between the gurgled noises, you hear him murmur the words
“Help….Please…..Help Me”
I RUN TO FIND HELP
