Time to go!

You grab your candy bag, say goodbye to your parents, and head for the door.

Stepping outside, you notice the rain has stopped, it’s a surprisingly warm night too. You head toward the cemetery, spotting all sorts of witches, goblins, and other creatures. Hard as it may be, you resist the temptation to stop at anyone’s door along the way, you’re pretty sure you could hear some kids say something about one house having full sized candy bars, but there is simply not enough time. When you reach the cemetery, you can see your friend Mark waiting by the gate.

He notices you as you walk up, and waves, holding the helmet of his astronaut costume in the other hand. Even from afar, you can see the grin on his chubby pale face.

You raise a hand to wave back, but notice a dark shadow fall from the old tree behind him, just outside the cemetery gate.

You open your mouth to say something, but it’s too late! you reach out, and watch in terror, as your friend is mauled by a viscous….Teddy bear?

“AHHHH!” Mark screams. “HELP ME, HELP….Debra?” The teddy bear stands up, popping the head off it’s thin torso to reveal and mane of messy red hair, covering the face of your other friend laughing uncontrollably.

“That was not funny, Dude!” Mark exclaims, dusting himself off.

It takes Debra a moment before she contains her laughter, wiping a tear from her face “Oh, but it was” she replies with a wide grin.

Mark looks at her with a furrowed brow, before changing to a more concerned expression. “Is that supposed to be open?” he says, pointing to the slightly pushed back cemetery gate. “No, it’s always locked on Halloween to prevent vandalism” Debra says, walking towards it. She kneels down to pick something up “It looks like somebody cut the chain off”

“Should we do something?” Mark asks, looking back and forth between the two of you.
